Instructions for online play
This web page isn't coded to function for play on mobile devices, mainly because it makes much use of right-clicking. So you'll have to play on a computer. On computers, Chrome, Firefox, and (for some reason) Edge have all been tested.
I've turned off the scrollbars and I'm assuming you are on a computer with a 1920px width screen resolution. Click here to test that you see the full game screen. If you don't, zoom out/in the page (ctrl+scrollwheel in most browsers) until you can just see the text about "Items" on the far right of the screen, and also see the side selections (ie Left/Front/Right/Back/Top) on the bottom of the page. For best effect, put your browser of full screen by pressing F11. There are also some helpful sound effects that I worked hard on, so turn on sound. Yes I know, nothing says "competent web development" like telling your user how to set up their system, right? Oh, and if clicking that link did nothing, make sure you enable JavaScript.
This web page is the JavaScript-version of a potential physical puzzle box I would like to acquire the skills to build one day1. As such boxes typically don't come with a lot of instructions, you won't get "how to win"-instructions here either. Just know that early on you shouldn't expect to be able to interact with most sides of the box, and you will be clearly told if/when you solve the last puzzle on the box.
Click on stuff to interact. Right-click on things to rotate them. If you get stuck right away: Right-click on things to rotate them!.
Also, these puzzles are supposed to be quite difficult. Just pretend you spent several hundred dollars buying this puzzle box, so you're not likely to give up. OK? While you could get stuck on some riddles, this entire box is meant to be solvable by a small group of smart people with some time on their hands.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, including what parts confuse(d) you, what parts you liked, were you got stuck or gave up, and of course letting me know if you solved it! Good luck!
